Religious School Grads Likelier to Have Abortions

Wow - honestly, I wouldn't have necessarily predicted this to be true:

Excerpt:

The killing of an abortion provider on Sunday raises again the extreme potential consequences of the nation's schism on this topic. It's a tough issue to reconcile on a personal level too, and a new study on the effects of religiosity on the decision to have an abortion reveals more inconsistencies.

Unwed pregnant teens and 20-somethings who attend or have graduated from private religious schools are more likely to obtain abortions than their peers from public schools, according to research in the June issue of the Journal of Health and Social Behavior.

"This research suggests that young, unmarried women are confronted with a number of social, financial and health-related factors that can make it difficult for them to act according to religious values when deciding whether to keep or abort a pregnancy," said the study’s author, sociologist Amy Adamczyk of John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the Graduate Center, City University of New York.

Just because they went to a self-proclaimed "Christian" school doesn't make them Christians. Especially if they are for abortion.

Also,

Yeah...you can believe them.

If these people are as you say not christians why do you feel the need to attack the publication this piece of research is going to be published in? If they were in fact not christian it wouldnt matter where this research was published because you wouldnt care, right? I find it humerous that you on the one hand deflect the attention away from the "church" by stating that these people arent christian in you view but feel the need to criticise a publication that is obvious you dont even read but have such a strong view of. Why is that?

In fact the piece of the story you have quoted doesnt mention Christianity at all, it says "religious schools". In fact the entire story was about religious schools as a whole, you know, places where children of a certain religion do not mix with children from other faiths of social backgrounds. The kind of places the breed ignorance due to the limited worldview these children are shown. Where myths take precident over facts and stupidity is bread.

Because they lie.

Why would a non-Christian publication want to bring down Christianity by making it look like public school students are equal or better than those who don't attend a public school? Suspicious...

it says "religious schools". In fact the entire story was about religious schools as a whole,

That's another lie, they can't be lumped together.

You're not getting it, you see what people do when they conduct studies of this nature is they look at the facts. They look at all the relevant data that they can find on such a subject and then compare the two sets of data against one another to see if there are any major differences. In this case there are. They have found significant data to back these claims up and the fact that the study is being published means that it has gone through as much scrutiny by other leading figures in the field to warrent it's publication. If those "peer reviewers" felt that there was anything suspicious about the findings in this study it would not be published and those who conducted the study would be shamed for it. But as its being published they have the data to back it up and neither you nor anyone else can refute their claims.

I would think that a non-christian publication would be far more trust worthy to gather such information because it does not have an agenda to peddle to apease its supporters. [You disagree I know]

Yes they can, and have been.

I guess Atheists and Christians could be lumped together as well.

All religions can't be lumped together.

:1orglaugh Ha!

This coming from a Christian. Please.....

I don't believe every "Christian" they have to prove they are one.

You believe blindly men who write books on supposed proven theories they call science.
Even though most of it is junk science.

Do you even think before you write?

You belive blindly men who write books
Seems to correspond quite nicely with every person of religious faith on this planet.

Men didnt write the bible? No it was god wasnt it. :hatsoff:

At least most of these scientists who practice "junk science" can back their claims up with physical evidence. Where's gods evidence?

You can carry on with the science bashing as long as you want. The only think I'll say about that is are you typing these posts on a computer?

Yes .... okay then.

I really wonder if sex education has something to do with it. I don't actually know this as fact, but from what I hear religious/conservative schools often ban teaching any kind of sex education, 'cause, you know, if kids know about condoms they'll immediately go out fucking anything with corresponding genitals.

Sorry Will E, but your platform is incredibly weak. Most of the time I simply skim over and go on my way, but...really? Go try out one of those "supposed proven theories". Run an experiment. The difference between a science book and a bible? Results in a science book are reproduceable. They work. You let me know when you've walked on water or parted a sea. Water to wine would make you a fortune.

This was exactly what I was thinking about.
Since they are not allowed to know condoms exist then they don't know to use them.

being a former attendant of private religious, public, and alternative schools, this comes as absolutely no shock whatsoever. more of one of them common knowledge things really.....
